Brief Summary

   The story began when 16 year-old Ranma Saotome, along with his father Genma Saotome, returned back to Japan to meet his unknown fiancée, one of the three Tendo daughters whom Ranma's never met. Since only Akane Tendo was younger than Ranma, the two older sisters picked Akane as Ranma's new fiancée. However, the martial art specialist Ranma brought himself a girl body from China. Ranma and his father became cursed by Jusenkyou springs. Whenever they were splashed by cold water, Ranma turns to a girl and Genma turns to a panda. They were allowed to turn back to men when splashed by hot water.

   Later on, Ranma found out he had another two fiancées, Ukyo Kuonji and Shampoo. In the other hand, he was challenged by rivals and friends such as Ryoga Hibiki and Mousse. Although Ranma was good at his martial art and was very attractive to girls, he was a coward in the aspect of love that he never expressed his true love to Akane. However, he always tried to help his beloved Akane and so as others. A lot of people were cursed, a lot of strange characters, a lot of funny stories, the tale of Ranma ½ goes on and on.

My Comment

   Ranma ½ was a very famous and long story. Everyone in Asia may have seen some of Ranma ½ stories. For myself, I do have the whole manga series. And I would like to have the cartoon series also as there are tons of shower scenes of Shampoo and Akane (haha).

   The type of story is like those American comedy TV shows. What I mean is story between each episode is not connected. The story is surely funny, the author did use a lot of different elements. Yet the story, also is like American TV shows, lack of a major goal. I think that's why Americans like this story.
